During the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, Rikuzentakata City was one of the worst hit areas in the region, the population suffering 20%-40% casualties and completely destroyed buildings and homes. Singapore's Red Cross Society gathered funds of up to $28M from kind and generous Singaporeans which helped fund rebuilding efforts.

 

To express our gratitude for the everlasting friendship between Rikuzentakata and Singapore, KotoKottoN made a trip to Rikuzentakata in the Iwate Prefecture in Japan from 27th to 29th June to take part in the Kizuna III Concert, kindly organised by CEO Maeuchi of Salon de Royal Kyoto and members of the Rikuzentakata community.
